Yoga is a holistic healing tradition for achieving optimum health and individual potential. Developed in India over many centuries in response to the problem of human suffering when presented in the context of a supportive student-teacher relationship, Yoga can assist the individual in achieving personal goals, making positive changes and creating a fulfilling life.

It does all this with a vast array of tools and techniques. These include:

  • physical postures (asanas)
  • breathing practices (pranayama)
  • meditation
  • sound and voice work
  • lifestyle guidelines
  • nutritional awareness
  • the study of yogic or other inspirational texts
  • counselling for work or relationship problems

As you practice Yoga regularly you will experience many physical benefits, including improved strength, flexibility and energy, and a general sense of well-being. Yoga can also be therapeutic for many common ailments and spinal problems. You will also experience a reduction in feelings of stress, an improved ability to focus and concentrate, and most importantly an improvement in the way you relate to yourself and others.

With these aims in mind, at Energy Source Yoga Studio founder Janice Eliovson and her team of trained teachers do not teach a particular Yoga 'style'. Instead, the many tools of Yoga are adapted to respond to the needs of the individual, in a friendly and supportive community.
